EMDR

EMDR Therapy was originally developed in the USA and has been used in a variety of seetings and countries in the last 25 years to deal with a variety of mental health issues such as: performance anxiety, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, insecurities, phobias and also to treat PTSD.

It all began in 1987 with psychologist Francine Shapiro and it's approved by the World Health Organization.

How does it work?

During a session, the therapist will work with you to identify a specific problem or memory as a focus for the treament session.  As you recall the problem or memory and what you think or feel, the therapist will ask you to follow side to side movements with your eyes.  Theses eye movements are used until the memory you have becomes distant and less distressing and new positive thoughts about yourself emerge and matched to the original issue or memory.
